⦁ I am to restore my self-esteem by seeing myself as I really am, to sort out my good qualities as a foundation to build stronger better personalities.
⦁ I am to grow a better picture of myself, like and respect myself as a person, so I can grow.
⦁ I am to accept reality consciously not unconsciously.
⦁ I accept that I cannot conquer reality but in the unconscious I believe I can and this is not acceptance, the struggle to achieve control continues.
⦁ When I accept the temporary yielding and tensions and the ability to accept in the unconscious as surrender, there is no more battle, there is relaxation and freedom from stress and conflict.
⦁ When I completely surrender that I have no power to change another, I can create a new life for me.
⦁ When I stop playing Spirit things start to happen because Spirit then steps in and corrects what seemed hopeless.
⦁ Acceptance is not rejecting or resisting, it is going along with, to cooperate and be receptive.
⦁ I cannot read another mind, or what is going on inside another human being – I cannot play Spirit to our troubled mates.
⦁ I am to remember that everyone must be respected for his own individuality no matter how battered it appears.
⦁ No one can think the way I think or do as I do, I am not you.
⦁ I am encouraged to stay in touch with my group between meetings.
⦁ When I am depressed or apprehensive I am to talk things over.
⦁ I am to be clear what I am looking for.
⦁ Am I looking for comfort and straightening out of my thinking?
⦁ Do I expect advice on a serious personal crisis?
⦁ I cannot give another the responsibility of telling me what to do.
⦁ No one can make my decisions for me, I will call on Spirit for guidance.
⦁ I will meditate and keep my mind open for answers.
⦁ When I feel I must take a radical and permanent step, shouldn’t I make sure I am not motivated by resentment, hatred and anger?
⦁ I will remind myself that once having taken a radical step there is no turning back. I should try again with the help of Spirit and the programme to improve my own capacity for dealing with my problem.
⦁ Whatever is facing me I know that Spirit has given me the power to set my world in order.
⦁ I will not let go of the programme that lead me to freedom and God/Spirit realisation.
⦁ I will not face my problems without the help of the programme.
⦁ I will not set myself up for a big multi member operation for supporters to bow out of.
⦁ I am not a powerhouse.
⦁ The What if …looking at fears and possible troubles ahead, projecting into the future is a closed book.
⦁ The more we look for disaster the more we invite it.
⦁ Because the past was unhappy is no reason the future will be.
⦁ Only Spirit knows and I do well to trust in a loving Spirit of wisdom and root out all thoughts that things cannot get better.
⦁ It is health to the mind and body to look to the future with confidence.
⦁ Positive attitude prepares for the future.
⦁ I will not give reality to trouble that will never come.
⦁ When I read the teachings again it reveals new spiritual ideas.
⦁ I am to dig into my consciousness and unearth for us the wonderful potential for good in all our relationship with life.
⦁ I am committed to meditating on the actions/teachings daily for half an hour and giving two and half hours to listening to the inner voice of Spirit.
⦁ I am to get myself one sponsor and stop confusing myself by trying to coordinate too many opinions.
⦁ I am to go slow, let go and keep it simple.
⦁ I will not try to manage or control what is clearly beyond my powers.
⦁ I will dedicate myself to managing my own life and only mine.
⦁ There is only one world you can improve and that is yourself.
⦁ My own behaviour is not sane.
⦁ I rely on Spirit to open my eyes and ears to solutions to restore me to peace and order.
⦁ Comfort and peaceful heart are the rewards of those who rely on Spirit for help.
⦁ Self-deception can only damage me, in giving me a unclear, unreal picture of the person I really am.
⦁ When I have given myself the answers, I will have given myself the gift of weeding out my own shortcomings that block my search for serenity.
⦁ I can prepare myself to make decisions only by becoming aware of the kind of person I am, by getting to know myself.
⦁ I know I must acknowledge what is wrong but I must also recognise my good qualities which are the foundation of my growth and evaluate my real motives and intentions.
⦁ When I fall into old habits of self-pity, criticising, my relapse is just as involuntary and forgivable as that of others who are addicted to guilt and irresponsible behaviour.
⦁ I am to get perspective on my troubles rather than pinpointing my thoughts on my troubles.
⦁ I am to meet the challenges of every day.
⦁ Things cannot always go the way I want them to.
⦁ Accept disappointment quietly.
⦁ Grow the gift of silence when speaking may aggravate the difficulty.
⦁ Resentment leads to retaliation.
⦁ We feel justified for paying others back for what they have done to us.
⦁ If I cannot fathom intentions or motivation how can I punish others?
⦁ Perhaps the hurt was not intended. Perhaps I was oversensitive.
⦁ Most of us have suffered from unkindness.
⦁ The addicts backlash is their own guilt and self-hatred.
⦁ Any retaliation for an injury can only react unhappily on me.
⦁ In nature there are no rewards or punishments only consequences.
⦁ Silence filled with unpleasantness and anger screams louder than words. It hurts us. It gives others reason to criticize and it does nothing to communicate our love and compassion.
⦁ Looking for distractions to time fill, that their first duties are neglected, duties to the family and the home, including the addict.
⦁ Detach from the problem, can truly promote our spiritual growth and lessen the unrecognized personal guilt we carry around within us.
⦁ Detachment from others frees our self from a sense of injury that is a blend of resentment and self-pity.
⦁ When I detach myself from my problems, they often resolve themselves.
⦁ Our group meetings gave me a new way of looking at things.
⦁ I will concentrate on things that are my concern and make sure which are really mine.
⦁ I will keep my hands off the business of others.
⦁ I will not interfere in the lives of others activities, nor assume their responsibility, nor shield them from the consequences of what they do.
⦁ When I am offended by the faults of others, I will turn to my own failings and by attending to them I will forget my anger and learn to live wisely.
⦁ I will not plan pitfalls for others or do anything to punish for the grounds that is for their own good and that is not my right; we would need the insight of Spirit to know what drives the other to his frantic escape from reality.
⦁ Others are heading towards their own crisis or self-created results every time they give control over to another or substance.
⦁ My role is to allow the inevitable consequences to overtake the unhappy addict as they surely will, if we keep ourselves from doing any action to prevent it.
⦁ Scheming to outwit the addicted person is doomed to failure.
⦁ I examine my own motives to be sure I am not playing self-defeating games.
⦁ I will have to dig deep for this kind of honesty, but it is worth it.

6. Were entirely ready to have Spirit remove all these defects of character

⦁ Open to death or change from self-will to God's will.
⦁ Let go and let God, easy does it, keep it simple, one step at a time.
⦁ Willing to do the inner and outer work.
⦁ Take the inner work seriously and committed to daily meditation.
⦁ Focus on Spirit, the inner sound and lightness of being.
⦁ Focus on serving myself and meeting my own needs by first meeting the needs of others where Spirit resides.
⦁ By helping others we help ourself and it does so much good.
⦁ The teachings of actions are a gift I want to share and I will not deprive myself of helping those who need it.
⦁ What I can give is never as much as I get from the giving.
⦁ I will not yield to resentment when I feel wronged by someone. It is all for my benefit.
⦁ No self-discipline can heal me of resentment.
⦁ Emotions are damaging when I do not understand the cause of the emotions.
⦁ I analyse the emotions and ask what caused the emotion that made me react the way I did.
⦁ I will reason it away by understanding the cause and practising appreciation.
⦁ Resentment is so consuming and we cannot function with bad habits if we hope to improve our lives.
⦁ To have peace of mind I must not depend on conditions outside of myself.
⦁ An honest search for my motive shows I enjoy martyrdom or that I fear subconsciously, that I deserve it.
⦁ When I find the causes of my distress and frustrations I can establish corrective habits to overcome them.
⦁ A programme of self-recognition and self-change is easy to read and hard to do.
⦁ My failures come from trying to do too much too fast, from expecting results overnight.
⦁ I will search for one fault, one bad habit and work to eliminate that.
⦁ I will keep changing myself for the better.
⦁ Meditation has an influence on my life, it answers all my questions and calls for reflection.
⦁ I do not know what is best for me neither do I know what I want.
⦁ I leave it all up to sacred Spirit, the inner voice, God, the good, comforting and happy feelings.
⦁ My meditation is for receiving guidance, for an open mind to receive it, for courage and confidence to use it, to forgive myself.
⦁ No situation is hopeless, I must keep cheerful when I have cause for despair I am to resist the impulse to complain.
⦁ I must not take over the responsibility of others as I prevent the growth of the other.
⦁ It takes courage not to appear courageous.
⦁ I must not look for sympathy as a result of self-pitying ego as it weakens my character and destroys my self-esteem.
⦁ I will not lack the courage and confidence to do the things that will improve my situation.
⦁ I will not be afraid to let go of another person’s obligations.
⦁ I will stop doing what will stop me from improvement.
⦁ I will turn to Spirit for guidance and all the strength and confidence I need.
⦁ I was saved from making mistakes by the teachings introduced to me.
⦁ The teachings provided the strength to meet the situation with poise, serenity and confidence in the outcome.
⦁ I do the work daily for myself with constant reading, meditation and asking for guidance and giving of myself to help others.
⦁ My mind and heart remains open to see and hear so I can learn and develop myself.
⦁ I am determined to be courteous meaning to have warm concerns for other persons comfort and well-being by explaining and reassuring.
⦁ I am committed to courteously overcome resentment and melt misunderstandings away.
⦁ I will treat all equally importantly, respect all and make them feel secure and loved.
⦁ My getting depends on my giving, to be of service to others.
⦁ I give as my good spirit directs me, to give my time to others, jump in to help, setting up and clean, provide supplies, giving comfort and reassurance to others in trouble who attend or host meetings.
⦁ I get rid of my impulse to justify my actions, caused by guilt, that I cannot release it to understand my motives.
⦁ I stop to search out why I had the impulse to justify or be emotional.
⦁ I examine my real reasons for every decision that involves me taking action, and try to correct myself deception.
⦁ I must avoid making excuses and reason why I do things and accept others as they are.
⦁ As a newcomer to the programme I told my sponsor about the person I am in conflict with to realise it is only one side of the story and that the other also has complaints and is confused, tense, angry and frustrated and deprived of a reasonable understanding.
⦁ The teachings brings me to compassion and understanding of the other persons deep guilt and unhappiness.
⦁ I realise I am to share the responsibility of the troubles of those around me.
⦁ I am determined to only look to myself to improve my life and remain in agreement with others who are God's children who God is in charge of, like God is in charge of me.
⦁ I act on God's inspiration and guidance.
⦁ I will let go and let God, meaning, I will not be defeated and apathetic, by not turning my back on my problems, but will ask for God for help and expect help.
⦁ I am willing to face my problems because I want to face my life and enjoy it for myself and with others.
⦁ I will guard against defeatism where there is a loving God who will help me with all I need.
⦁ I will use humour to lighten up the heavy seriousness which soothes out the rough spots in communication.
⦁ If I look closely there is an element of fantasy, fun or even a relieving silliness which when my mood makes it look black, I could spark it with a dash of rosy pink.
⦁ I try look for the things that can add gaiety to my life to offset the solemn or troubling ones.
⦁ I create humour to detach my mind from daily difficulties.
⦁ Its anxiety that bars us from the lighter brighter things of life, humour defuses it.
⦁ I will wait patiently for a problem to work itself out through a natural process than constantly to impose my own misguided control into it.
⦁ I will let those I love be perfectly themselves and not try changing them to fit my own image, otherwise I love only the reflection of myself I find in them.
⦁ We love as we accept each other as we are.
⦁ I will not cling to my burdens.
⦁ I live in a state of serenity to overcome the undercurrent of guilt from the past errors.
⦁ Serenity gives me insight into myself and my value.
⦁ I am guided by example to stop my addiction, but I can only stop the compulsion with strong desire.
⦁ I surrender the reins of control over other human beings.
⦁ The Power can restore me to sanity, to put my feet on the ground, show me the way to renew my life which might be too troubled to think straight.
⦁ I surrender to faith in something that is beyond my control.
⦁ I will surrender my will to the wisdom of God in my effort to find a sane and reasonable way of life.
⦁ The Power regulates our events.
⦁ Painful events are not necessary.
⦁ A believing love will save us from a load of cares.
⦁ I will surrender my will to God and not force my will to my problems, as no solutions can be found in this way.
⦁ I place myself in the Power and wisdom that flows into my life and I am impelled to truth and perfect contentment.
⦁ We are to see ourselves as we really are, our characters, motives, attitudes and actions.
⦁ Self-justification may tempt me to explain each fault as I uncover it.
⦁ I will not blame others for what I do on the ground that I am compelled to react to their wrong doings.
⦁ I will be honest and humble which is superior than knowledge.
⦁ My perfection is a long way off, but improvement can be made to happen everyday by working on one or two shortcomings at a time for as long as it takes to satisfy me that I have made real progress erasing them.
⦁ My flaws make trouble for me, so I must face them and correct them to become the person I want to be.
⦁ I admit these shortcomings to God, to myself in a private confession and then to another trusted person.
⦁ I guard against self-justification and self-righteousness, and do not make excuses for myself or blame my troubles on others.
⦁ I make myself ready to let go of negative habits of thought that have been reflected in the happenings of my life, and God helps me to manage the kind of thinking and doing that brings me serenity and happiness.
⦁ I must keep reminding myself to accept the help of Spirit in all I am trying to do.
⦁ I will make a list of all persons I have harmed and become willing to make amends to them all.
⦁ I will admit my errors so I can clear my inner consciousness of guilt.
⦁ I will ask myself who have I injured, knowing my hostile reaction to those who have gone against me.
⦁ I will ask myself if I have filled the minds of those of others in my life with thoughts against another.
⦁ Have I communicated my anxiety and resentment to others?
⦁ Have I taken my frustration out on others?
⦁ I am willing to be freed from self-hate, opening the door to peace of mind I never want to lose.
⦁ A change of attitude can make up for past unkindness.
⦁ If I have taken from anyone any material thing, I will acknowledge the debt and pay it in full.
⦁ Rifts between me and others can be healed by swallowing my pride and making the first gestures towards reconciliation.
⦁ Love and patience can make amends for past injuries, they restore me to sanity and my life to serenity.
⦁ I continue to make a personal inventory of those I have harmed and when I am wrong I promptly admit it, to avoid a backlog of guilt to worry about, and I keep order as I go along.
⦁ I live One day at a time, not expecting to achieve perfection.
⦁ I observe my progress and enjoy deep satisfactions it can bring me.
⦁ I have little obvious effect on my outward circumstances, at first keep myself receptive to solutions will guide me to them.
⦁ I look to myself where all the answers are found.
⦁ I am searching through meditation and contemplation on my conscious contact with Spirit and contemplate on the knowledge and will of Spirit to carry it out, it is the way to receive guidance for our decisions.
⦁ I let Spirit who guides me with strength, make my perfect way.
⦁ After a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps, I try to carry this message to others and to practise these principles in all my affairs.
⦁ The spiritual awakening is a realization that we are not alone and helpless, I have learned certain truths which I am now able to carry to others in order to help them.
⦁ I will keep myself ready for the spiritual awakening which will come to me when I have surrendered my will to the will of Spirit.
⦁ It will shed new light on many things.
⦁ It will give me the ability to make my judgements and decisions on the spiritual level where I will be governed by the goodness and wisdom of Spirit.
⦁ Spirit leads me out of sleep, out of darkness and leads me into the Spiritual way.
⦁ I shield my children from violence.
⦁ I don’t over protect my children.
⦁ I don’t influence them against others
⦁ I avoid scenes by not allowing my frustrations to erupt into anger.
⦁ I try hard to be consistent and fair to them.
⦁ I consider my kids first.
⦁ My attitude is the key to a successful family relationship and their normal growing up.
⦁ My children respond to respect well.
⦁ Be good to Self means not relishing suffering, re-living and re telling self-pity story, and wean away martyrdom until the joys of serenity and contentment dawn on them.
⦁ I will not nurse my complaints, resent my lot in life, seek escapism nor blame anyone.
⦁ Letting go of a problem is the lovely adventure of shrugging off hurts.
⦁ My contentment is not worth giving up to hurt, feeling sorry for myself, resentment and worry.
⦁ I have no need to carry around with me emotional unpleasantness.
⦁ Self-deception is when I tell the details of suffering, react to happenings, make judgements and suppress facts that might reflect badly on others, and exaggerates others faults.
⦁ I am willing to get away from such deception and create a state of mind to see it rationally until there is a change of attitude.
⦁ I will guard advising anyone to take a radical step they are not emotionally ready to take.
⦁ Let go and let God is a rule to follow when asked to give advice in a troubled domestic situation.
⦁ The time I spend in reviewing the past, moaning over past mistakes and failures is time lost.
⦁ The past has no importance, except as experience in making today fruitful.
⦁ Regrets and self-condemnation for what we did or left undone destroy self-esteem.
⦁ I will live through this one day only and not tackle all my problems at once.
⦁ Those of the past need not concern me today and future ones can be faced as they arise.

7. Humbly asked Spirit to remove our shortcomings.

⦁ Think before I speak.
⦁ Stop the train of speech.
⦁ Discuss what it appropriate to the group.
⦁ Invite others by agreement.
⦁ Set boundaries.
⦁ Manage the carriage, driver, reins and horses.
⦁ Remind us when we do not make your heart happy.
⦁ Forgive us for going against others and forgive others for going against us.
⦁ Lead us not into negativity, temptation, wrong action.
⦁ Remind us that nothing happens without your will.
⦁ Remove arrogance and practise open mindedness.
⦁ Remove glamour and practise being.
⦁ Remove bossiness and practise leadership.
⦁ Remove control and manipulation and practise surrender and agreement.
⦁ Remove sadness and replace with sympathy.
⦁ Remove jealousy and practise encouragement.
⦁ Remove rejection and replace with acceptance.
⦁ Remove conflict and replace with support and cooperation.
⦁ Remove Ego/pride and replace with humility and appropriateness.
⦁ Remove attachment to impermanent happiness and replace with attachment to permanent happiness.
⦁ Remove greed and replace with contentment.
⦁ Remove anger and hatred and replace with forgiveness and love.

8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed and become willing to make amends to them all.

9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.

11. Seed through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with Spirit as we understand Spirit, praying only for knowledge of the will of Spirit for us and the Spirit to carry that out.

To become reliant on Self/Spirit in form, Love Self, Trust Self, Befriend Self only
To give to Spirit my business and let Spirit manifest business to earn own income.
To find someone in a similar business to learn to manage.
To achieve inner goal of Self Actualization and God Realization.
To be grounded and live out realisations.

12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these actions and teachings, we committ to carry this message to others, and to practise these principles in all our interactions.

⦁ Continue to read the Self-help books
⦁ Live by example
⦁ Communicate to others the message when it is appropriate
⦁ Attend and host meetings, on positive creative and professional approach, to lead better lives.
